4 Ways to Boost Your Confidence and Create Success

Each us deserves to be comfortable in our own skin and have the confidence to pursue our dreams. Confidence does not mean seeing yourself as infallible or above others; it means accepting yourself for who you are and what you love; it’s trusting yourself enough to take risks in order to grow and reach your goals.
We all have the potential for this type of confidence within us. By making a few small mindset changes and actions consistently, day by day, we can cultivate it.
Here are five things that have worked wonders in multiplying my own confidence and helping me reach towards my own version of success.
1. Rework your perception of failure.
Think of a few people that you consider to be successful in life. You’ll notice that these people are often trying new things and seem to have no problem finding remarkable opportunities. This is a result of taking risks and learning from failure.
“If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn
How do you break out of the ordinary and reach your own version of success? In order to live a bold life and take more risks, you’ll simply need the confidence in yourself to do so!
When setting out to try something new, rather than viewing it as black in white, try eliminating the arbitrary end-goal and viewing it as an experiment instead.
For example, rather than telling yourself you must lose 50 pounds or this diet will be a failure, why not set your goal to simply find out to find what types of food and exercise make you feel amazing? If one type of diet doesn’t work for you, you haven’t failed – you simply redirect to test another!
2. Start saying “yes” to the things that light you up.
Do you spend your days doing things that matter to you and that truly excite you? Pursuing work and hobbies that you are passionate can do wonders for your confidence. It means that you are aligning your goals with your actions, and this builds self-trust.
Maybe you’ve been dreaming of starting a fashion blog. Why not give yourself an hour a day to get it started? Or maybe you know you want to exercise more, but haven’t been giving yourself enough time. Why not say “no” to some of your daily activities that aren’t essential and make time for the things that nourish you?
Doing small things for yourself each day that bring a smile to your face are a great way for uncovering the confidence to go after what you love.
3. Change your relationship with your weaknesses.
Confident people accept their imperfections for what they are and focus on utilizing their strengths. They view their imperfections as opportunities to grow.
Rather than viewing your not-so-desirable traits as flaws, accepting that you can’t be a pro at everything and seeing weaknesses as areas of opportunity can completely shift your view of yourself.
One of the things I admire most about my clients is they focus on putting their strengths to use. They come to me for help with their areas of business that do not specialize in, and understand the value of having someone on their team who is strong in their areas of weakness.
So, what things are you GREAT at that you can focus your energy on? What areas can you refer to others for when you need help?
4. Stop indulging your negative mind.
This is a big one, and something that I learned from Dr. Danielle Dowling. How often do you let your doubts tell you what to do? How many times have you wanted to try something new, but held back because that little voice told you that you’ll fail?
For example, one of my biggest challenge areas was speaking to people I don’t know. In the past, I’ve let myself sit silently because I told myself that I shouldn’t make a fool out of myself.
My life changed when I learned to acknowledge the negativity, and instead of accepting it as truth, choose another mindset. Now, I try to view speaking to new people as an opportunity. It’s a chance to learn something new – to make a new friend – even to uncover business opportunities! This allows me to proceed with confidence rather than being paralyzed by fear.
It’s your choice whether you allow your negative mind to direct your life, or whether you choose to look past it. You have unlimited potential – don’t let your doubts keep you from seeing where that potential can lead.
You deserve to love yourself and your life. You’ve got this – go and make it happen!
